Domestic Pumping station System
OVERVIEW
What is a wastewater pumping station? It is an extra tank that you connect to your septic tank or wastewater treatment plant. The pump station is usually installed when the ground level of the wastewater treatment system is too high. More specifically when it’s higher than the level of the property and you cannot use a gravity tank.
We use our domestic pumping system for the transfer of wastewater from a house to a wastewater treatment plant at an elevate location. It can also be suitable for an estate where we place the main pumping station on higher ground. Each case needs an approval from local authority.

How our pumping station works
We use the Tricel pumping stations where gravity sewerage is not possible. The tank pumps the water at intervals to the main sewer or wastewater treatment plant. The float switch inside the tank is getting activated when the level of water reaches a certain level in the tank. The process is curbed by the use of the control float. The Pumping chambers contain
- A chamber.
- A Pump.
- Pump controls.
- Float and/or an alarm depending on your needs
- Multiple and backup pumps are also available.
Tricel’ s pump stations are designed to meet building regulations, including Document H1 (“Foul Drainage”). This stipulates that:
“Where foul drainage from a dwelling or building is to be pumped, the effluent receiving chamber should be sized to contain 24 hours inflow to allow for disruptions due to power failures or breakdown. The minimum daily discharge of foul drainage should be taken as 150 litres per day per person for domestic use.”

Domestic packaged system
We use the Tricel domestic packaged system primarily for pumping and the transfer of wastewater from:
- A single domestic dwelling up to the public rising main.
- A dwelling to a Tricel Wastewater Treatment System at a raised location.
- A house in an estate which is lower than the main pumping station in the estate.
The pumps are underground tanks made from GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic). We manufacture 1,000L and 1,600L domestic pump stations in conformity with the building regulations. The Tricel pump station contains the different part below:
- Inlet point.
- Outlet point.
- Submersible pump.
- Control panel and alarm.
Dual pumps are also usable depending on the project.

WHAT IS PE ?
PE represents the initials of Population Equivalent. Population equivalent: conversion value which aims at expressing non-domestic applications in terms of domestic loading based on 1 person creates 60 g/day BOD5 and 150l/day. Tricel Novo & Vitae
Both are wastewater treament plant solutions manufactured by Tricel. Wastewater treatment plants offer a superior quality of treatment. For example, the Tricel Novo comprises of three independent wastewater treatment zones and offers an average of efficiency of 95.9% BOD removal.
This is a higher treatment standard than the effluent from a septic tank. Please note: all wastewater treatment plants used in Ireland must comply with the EN12566-3 standard and all septic tanks must comply with the EN12566-1 standard..
Tricel Vento
The septic tank from Tricel is manufactured as a primary treatment. Designed for the settlement of your effluent. This product may need an additional treatment like the Sandcel or Puraflo.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF THE WASTEWATER PRODUCED?
The required standards are 20:30:20 BOD, SS, NH4. All Tricel produces exceed the requirements when tested to En12566-3 and comply with SR66.
